CLASSICS FOR KIDS

CLASSICS FOR KIDS takes a unique approach to instilling a love of reading for school-age children by inspiring and encouraging reading through viewing films based on classic literature.

Our program provides books, lesson plans and a day at the theatre in order to present reading as a cultural event and inspirational educational opportunity.

In conjunction with The National Council of Teachers in English and the International Reading Association, CLASSICS FOR KIDS creates a learning experience for students which utilizes skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing and critical thinking. This recommendation encourages educators to immerse their students in higher level learning wherein all of their language skills are integrated across content areas.

HOW IT WORKS

In conjunction with educators, CLASSICS FOR KIDS will provide:

CLASSIC NOVELS

Literary classics provided for each child from grades 2-12.

CINEMA EXPERIENCE

A day at a beautifully-renovated theater presenting Hollywood’s greatest films based on the books selected.

STRATEGIC LESSON PLAN

Lesson plans comparing and contrasting the classic work with the classic film emphasizing reading comprehension with analyses of plot and character development, story lines, choices made by the filmmaker in light of the author’s intent and overall critical thinking skills.
